The musikFabrik ensemble enjoys a reputation as one of the leading ensembles specializing in contemporary music performance. Already in their name, translated as ‘music factory’, is contained the idea of constant searching which motivates its members. Typical of the activity of this international ensemble of soloists is a constant search for new forms of expression. Their essential principles are represented by: linking of contemporary forms of communication, interdisciplinary projects and use
of alternative forms of presentation. Also an important element of musikFabrik’s concerts is interaction with the public. Thanks to their unconventional profile, as well as the high level of their artistic endeavors, musikFabrik is one of the most highly-regarded ensembles in the world – a partner with whom the greatest contemporary composers and conductors undertake collaboration. The list of distinguished personages from the music world, with whom the ensemble has collaborated, is a long one – among others: Louis Andriessen, Stefan Asbury, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Mauricio Kagel, Helmut Lachenmann, Zsolt Nagy, Emmanuel Nunes, Peter Rundel, Rebecca Saunders, Wolfgang Rihm and Hans Zender.

Their intensive work, assuming close cooperation with composers, bears fruit in over 100 concerts a year all over Europe, frequent recordings for radio stations, as well as production of their own recordings. musikFabrik performs regularly as part of the musikFabrik im WDR concert series.
