Mikołaj Pałosz

Mikołaj Pałosz is an independent cellist, improviser and composer who specialises in playing contemporary and avant-garde music. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is the winner of international music competitions, including Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music in Krakow and Witold Lutosławski International Competition in Warsaw.

He has performed at festivals such as: Warsaw Autumn, Musica Polonica Nova, Festiwal Prawykonań Polska Muzyka Najnowsza (Festival of Premieres – Polish Latest Music), Audio Art and Ad Libitum. He is a permanent member of the Warsaw Cellonet Group led by Andrzej Bauer. Between 1998 and 2008, as a member of the Conjunto Ibérico cello band based in the Netherlands, he performed in Europe, Brazil, Mexico and the USA. His solo album Cellovator, DUX0628, was released in 2008. Within the framework of artistic scholarships granted by the City of Warsaw and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Pałosz created Pretudes,a collection of études (2012), and two audiovisual compositions, Dłubak Soundsystem (2012) and AVC (2016). Mikołaj Pałosz initiates the creation of new works and is the performer of many premieres, including works dedicated to him.
