In 1980-86 she studied composition under Włodzimierz Kotoński at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In 1986-88 she continued her composing studies with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
Since 1989, she has been working as a freelance composer, writing commissioned works and receiving creative scholarships. She also gives lectures in various music institutions, conservatories and training courses. She was invited to sit in the jury of Münchener Biennale, Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam, Kazimierz Serocki. International Composers' Competition and the International New Chamber Opera Competition in Spoleto.
She has received numerous awards and distrinctions for her works, including 2nd Prize at the European Young Composers' Competition in the Netherlands in 1985, the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Artistic Prize (2nd Class) and the 2nd Prize at the Youth Circle of the Polish Composers' Union Contest in 1987.
In 2003 she was ranked first in the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers for ger Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, and the Mozart Medal of the UNESCO International Music Council.
