Physical Culture

BUY TICKET

Once again, we are combining musical and physical cultures. In an unconventional attempt to capture the relationship between music and sports, we emphasise the bodily and performative dimensions of music. The themes of sport, the ethos of sporting competition, effort, physicality, training, preparation, sparring, tranquillity and focus are the centre of gravity and the thematic axis of the pieces. The concert will feature three new compositions, written by Anna Sowa, Magdalena Gorwa and Adam Porębski. They are all based on sporting experiences and are an attempt to translate them into the composing process and performance techniques. They were inspired by physical education classes, yoga and tranquillity, as well as the music and sound aspects of billiards. We will also return to the Box of Boxing, first presented during the pandemic, carried out by Dominik Strycharski, who approached his piece from the point of view of the boxing ring. What ensemble could take up the challenge? The choice was obvious - Kwartludium.
