Have you ever wondered what songs are for? Barbara Kinga Majewska seeks answers to this and many other questions about the identity of the artist, performer or singer. Maybe you remember her from Bardo with Bartek Wąsik – a sensual song project from 2018? Or from Adonis Gamut performed with Marcin Masecki in 2020? And from many earlier memorable concerts, on which she always leaves a mark of her own unmistakable style, both in other people's and her own songs. This time he will present a new original song series I'm a Fool for a Song. It is a suite of themes and dances, with recurring sarabande, kujawiak, scherzo and other motifs, about hotels, ribs, portraits, quarries..
Note by Barbara Kinga Majewska:
I have a scar on my forehead from an accident I caused while listening to songs in my car. No one else got hurt. My loved ones asked me to talk to someone about it. When I hear someone's new songs, they don't impress me the first time. I don't get discouraged, I just listen again, and again, and when I get to know one song very well, our relationship becomes close. Then, for a long time, I listen to only one song and I don't listen to any other. Before going to bed and in the morning while exercising, eating, cleaning, in the shower, still in the car, and if I'm walking, I match the tempo of my steps with it. If I went to concerts of my favorite songs, I would hold above my head a cardboard with a note expressing gratitude. But I don't go to concerts. My relationship with songs is too intimate to share with strangers. I feel bad that the money I pay for a streaming platform subscription is so small compared to what I get from the songs—wherever I am, whenever I want. I escape the world very cheaply. I have already wasted so much time in it, and I could so easily always be somewhere else.
