Ewa Liebchen


Flautist, soloist and chamber musician, specialising in the performance of contemporary music. She has made numerous performances (including premieres) of works of Polish music, many of which were commissioned under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s programme “Composing Commissions”. Graduate of Accademia Italiana del Flauto (2002) in the flute class of Professor Raymond Guiot and the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the flute class of Professor Jadwiga Kotnowska (2005).

Flautist of Chain Ensemble run by Professor Andrzej Bauer and specialising in the performance of new music; for 15 years, she has also been a member of the Flute O’Clock flute duo, whose album Now received the Album of the Year 2010 title from the “Hi-Fi i Muzyka” monthly and was nominated for the Fryderyk 2011 Award in the Phonographic Debut of the Year category. The artist has recorded her versions of music by Polish composers: Sławomir Kupczak, Dominik Karski and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (DUX, Bôłt Records). In 2018, Ewa Liebchen’s first solo album Electric Sheep was released by Bôłt Records. One of its fragments – Sławomir Kupczak’s Halny dedicated to the flautist – was recommended by the 66th International Rostrum of Composers. The premiere of Ewa Liebchen’s latest solo album Dizzy Divinity will take place during this year’s Sacrum Profanum festival.

Winner of Polish and international music competitions as a soloist and a chamber musician. Scholarship holder of numerous organisations (Fundacja Kultury, ZAiKS, Top Wind, Accademia Musicale Chigiana) and two-time winner of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s Scholarship Programme “Young Poland”. She also conducts educational activity in the field of contemporary performance for instrumentalists, teachers and composers.
