alponom is a group of alphorn players from Basel and the surrounding area. We learned and developed our alphorn playing under Balthasar Streiff. Our repertoire ranges from traditional pieces to modern alphorn compositions. In 2017, our first joint project with Stephen O'Malley marked the 40th anniversary of the Centre Pompidou in Paris – a successful composition for alphorn and electronic music. In 2023, another joint project with Stephen O'Malley saw the premiere of "you origin" in Carnac, France. Further performances of "you origin" followed in 2024 in Vevey (La Becque artist residency) and in 2025 in Part-Dieu near Bulle (Perséphone Biennale). Further milestones in our history: Opening performance of the Lucerne Festival at the KKL Luzern +, Blue Hour – surround sound spectacle at the Roman Theatre in Augusta Raurica (Composer B. Streiff) and numerous performances in Basel and the surrounding area
