Kośmieja performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and multimedia artist in Europe, the United States and Asia. Graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, he began his musical education in Poland with Ludmila Kasyanenko, Jerzy Sulikowski and Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and later continued his studies in the New York City. During his time at the Manhattan School of Music Adam studied with Solomon Mikowsky and was awarded the Harold and Helen Schonberg Piano Scholarship, which was established in memory of the long-time leading music critic for “The New York Times”.

Adam has participated in piano master classes under many well-known names including Paul Badura-Skoda, Gary Graffman, Ivan Moravec, Andrei Gavrilov, Boris Berman, Mikhail Voskresensky, Dmitri Bashkirov and Dina Joffe.

He has performed at a number of venues throughout the world, including New York’s Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and the Yamaha Artist Services.

Kośmieja has been a part of and performed at many international piano festivals including: The International Festival of Contemporary Music “Warsaw Autumn”, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium, Shenzhen International Music Festival “Belt & Road”, Festivalul Internațional Craiova Muzicală in Romania, International Contemporary Music and Visual Arts Festival “Mózg” and international piano festivals in Spain to name a few. He has also toured as a soloist, performing in several countries, such as Japan, China, France, Czech Republic, Italy and many more.

Adam’s list of accolades includes several first prize awards from competitions such as the 2009 Mieczysław Münz Piano Competition in New York, the 2010 Chopin Piano Competition at Columbia University, and the 2013 Josef Suk International Piano Competition in Prague, as well as a semi-final award from the 3rd China Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition.

In 2016 he released his debut solo album on the DUX label titled Serocki – Complete Works for Solo Piano, which has gone on to receive critical acclaim around the world.

Adam Kośmieja holds a PhD in Music Performance from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he is currently teaching.
