Hudson Mohawke

Hudson Mohawke is astage name of Ross Birchard, a DJ and a producer of electronic music who was born in 1986 in Scotland. Hudson began his musical adventure at the age of 15 and was the youngest ever finalist of the DJ tournament UK DMC. His work combines hip-hop, electro and dubstep; The Guardian called him "the future-pop Timbaland". Thanks to the EP Polyfolk Dance he gained many fans, while the media have compared it to the works of Aphex Twin or Squarepusher. His debut album Butter, was released by Warp in 2009. In 2012 the Scottish producer began a series of collaborations with Kanye West, resulting in production credits on the highly anticipated GOOD Music label’s album Cruel Summer. On January 17th 2013 it was announced that Mohawke had officially signed an agreement with GOOD Music as a producer, whilst remaining with Warp and LuckyMe as a recording artist. Following early acclaim for his turntable work, he has been going on to receive praise for his "genre-smashing" approach, in which styles of music are "incorporated, manipulated and bounced against each other." Hudson Mohawke has also collaborated with a contemporary artist Lunice to form the collaborative TNGHT.
