In 1959 she graduated from the State Music High School in Krakow from the piano class of Maria Bilinska-Riegerowa, after which she continued to study piano under Ludwik Stefański at the State Higher School of Music. She studied composition in the class of Bogusław Schaeffer. She also defended her doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Humanities of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She worked at the university as a professor.
Among the awards and distinctions she has received are 3rd Prize at the Grzegorz Fitelberg Competition in Katowice (1970), a distinction at the N. Paganini International Composers’ Competition in Rome (1982) and 3rd Prize at the International Composers' Competition in Vienna (1985).
